The Mega 2560 is R3 microcontroller board is based on the ATmega2560, with 54 pins for digital input/output of which 15 provides PWM output. It has four hardware serial ports (UARTs), 16 for analog inputs, 16MHz crystal oscillator, ICSP header, power jack, USB connection, and reset button. It has everything you need to support the microcontroller. Simply connect to a computer with a USB cable, or connect to an AC-to-DC adapter or a battery to get started. The Mega works with most shields designed for the Arduino Duemilanove or Diecimila.
